Problem with importing MP4 files

Hi Folks- I'm a long time user of VPX. I've recently installed the latest version. Since the update, when I import ( copy) an MP4 file onto the timeline ,it does not show in the program monitor on playback. Black screen only. Nor does the timeline show thumbnails. The audio does play, but I see only a black screen on the program monitor. There was an update pushed out today and I was hoping this would resolve the problem, but it didn't. I have also reinstalled the software.So, something has gone wrong between the previous version and the release of the current. On a side note.. I've been using the trial version of Vegas and it's working flawlessly. Any suggestions to help fix this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance

Hi Mike.

Was your trail version of VPX, VPX 11? If so you should look at the Movie Edit Pro forum where you will find a lot of threads complaining of the same thing happening with the new version of MEP, with a few possible solutions on some of them that could apply to VPX.

What is your computer specification - see this topic for details of what is required.

If you do not have an Intel processor of 4th generation or later with an active integrated graphics chip, try turning off the Use hardware acceleration for preview .... option in the Program settings, Import/Export tab.

@johnebaker Thank you. That solved the issue. Now it's time to upgrade my computer, which I've been planning to do anyhow.

Do check the system requirements for Video Pro X - it does require an Intel processor with integrated graphics for hardware acceleration on export for h.264 and AVC, a NVidia graphics card can be used for preview acceleration and import, however only used for exporting HEVC video.
