Product Registration

B.FINDLAY wrote on 5/4/2021, 3:06 PM

I have purchased Music Maker 2021 Premium Edition in February of last year.

I also registered the product online. But now the online version that I downloaded is acting like I am on trial period. It does not accept my serial number. I can't use all the functions now. Please help. I am using windows 10 and my laptop is up to date. Thank you

Music Maker 2021 wasn't available in February last year. Perhaps you bought Music Maker 2020 and are trying to input the serial for that program into the new version?

B.FINDLAY wrote on 5/4/2021, 5:12 PM

Hello, thank you, for your response. According to my online receipt I purchased Music Maker 2021 Premium Edition on Feb 7th, and successfully registered the product and it was working fine until it stopped. I have the license. Tech support will have to help me reset it or something. But thank you for your help.

@B.FINDLAY You can reset it yourself. If you just installed an update and now cannot log into your account you can open the program settings and click on the button to clean up the store. This will delete the cache and can solve problems like you described.

@B.FINDLAY

Hi

. . . . Music Maker 2021 Premium Edition in February of last year . . . . According to my online receipt I purchased Music Maker 2021 Premium Edition on Feb 7th . . . .

As @Graham-Hawker has commented it is not possible to have bought this in Feb 2020 - the program was not available until June 2020.

If you bought the program direct from Magix, then the only receipt, confirming date of purchase, is the email you received after purchase. Did you purchase from elsewhere?

The more likely scenario is you purchased Music Maker (MMM) 2020 and have since installed the patch that was actually an upgrade to MMM 2021, and it is now running using the MMM 2020 serial number.

This means MMM 2021 is running as the free version. The upgrade to, which many users have been caught out by, MMM 2021 which is a 64 bit program, MMM 2020 was a 32 bit program, is a complete new version with a different serial number for activation of all its features and is a paid for upgrade.

Your options are: buy the upgrade to MMM 2021 or revert back to MMM 2020 - see this comment for more details.

Thank you for your response. I appreciate the insights, however, I can send you my email receipt which says I have and own the 2021 version, that I purchased online from Magix.com. I should not have to pay for an upgrade. That would be disingenuous and unfair. If it turns out that I have the 2020 version, then I have been misled and deceived. I hope that is not the case. Thank you for your wise counsel.

Do not post in the forum or send the email receipt to anyone - it is not necessary.

Check your email again - does it say you have bought MMM 2020 with a free upgrade to MMM 2021 as part of the Update Service?

Hi, thank you for reaching out. No it does not say that. It says: Music Maker 2021 Premium Edition. I received a response from tech support saying something about the cache. I will look into this. I am very frustrated, this should be simple to correct. I do not understand why they cannot help me from their end and reset the product. Well, thank you for your help.

johnebaker wrote on 5/8/2021, 4:51 PM

@B.FINDLAY

Hi

The program is not activated, your are indeed running the Free version of Music Maker - this what you would see if fully activated

As you have registered the program with Magix, logging in to the Store, with the email address and password you registered the program with, should present you with the Extra content which contains more features, functions soundpools and instruments to download and install.

If you do not see your email address, top right of the program window as shown below, you are not logged in to the Store, The program should also be starting and showing the start dialog with the account tab already open as shown below.

Hi,

In the startup diealogue interface, under Magix account, are you logged in and did you activate your Premium 2021 edition by putting your SN (minus P3) in the box and pressing on Activate? It doesn't look like you did.

Hi, John EB and John CB, I'm sorry I could not respond sooner. I got a 403: Forbidden error that would not let me use Magix.com for the past couple of days. To answer the question, I have logged in and out of the store, put the serial number to activate the product, it is rejected saying the coupon is invalid. I reached out to Tech support again, they asked for this:

I am awaiting response.

I still want to get to the bottom of this purchase date. Did you buy it in February 2020 (last year) or February 2021? If it was 2020 then it fairly obvious what is happening, considering Music Maker 2021 was not available in Februray 2020.

B.FINDLAY wrote on 5/11/2021, 10:45 AM

Here is a part of my confirmation email, just so you guys can see, I am not making this up.

Sorry, here is one with the date on it.

Here is what I see when I log on to Magix.com account. John EB, helped me see that my product is not activated, though I have been using all the features to create an 16 track song. But it stopped recently and reverted back to the free version. I am waiting to hear back from tech support. Thank you all for continuing to help me. I really appreciate all the tips and advice.

This sort of makes me want to give up. There's a date but not a year. This year, last year which one?

So we can see it was this year. My guess is that your firewall or other security settings are blocking the program connecting to Magix server and thus it can't verify the installation and is reverting to the free version. This is just a guess of course.

Hi

I agree with @Graham-Hawker - you bought the program in February 2021 - the same date (7th) in February 2020 was a Friday.

Can you also replace the images for ones not showing your order number ASAP please
