Hi Mark.

There are a lot of Lenovo Ideapad models but I can't find any with a 2TB C: drive so I assume some of that storage is additional and maybe external ? Then the question becomes how much free space is on the C: drive? assuming it's freezing before even loading a project. If it's freezing while loading a project that could be something completely different.

Also is it running an AMD CPU or Intel? There appears to be a choice of either depending on the model. You also don't mention whether the last version ran on the same machine or not.

Hi

There are 18+ differents series of IdeaPad, so we need all the details of your computer system as listed in the post @emmrecs linked to.

Additionally:

  1. What format and resolution video are you working with?

  2. When working on a project where are the video files stored, on an internal drive or as @CubeAce has suggested are they on an external drive?

I cannot even open a file because it freezes as soon as it loads. My files are on the laptop but this has never happened before. I've used Magix for several years now and this is the first time it happened. Right after the last update.

Hi Mark.

So this one.

My first suspicion then would be a lack of free space on your C: drive for the program to load itself. MEP needs an amount of free space on the drive to move files around in and the newer version may need more space than the old version did. If when it froze, you used task manager to shut it down it will then probably keep freezing each subsequent time you try to re-open it.

Hi

Cryptic answers are not going to help us help you with the issue you are having so please supply all the information as requested.

Check the paragraph below against your computer specification and if it is correct, add this to your profile signature, so we do not have to ask for it again in case of future issues.

Intel Core i5 (7th Gen) 7200U (dual core), Intel HD 620 GPU, RAM 8 GB DDR4, 1TB 5200rpm HDD, HDA audio , Windows 10 Home 64-bit.

. . . . I cannot even open a file because it freezes as soon as it loads . . . . Right after the last update . . . .

I have had this issue with Movie Edit Pro before, however I need you to confirm the variant and version you have - to do this as the program will not start - use Windows File Explorer:

  1. Browse to the installation folder - C:\Program Files\MAGIX\Movie Edit Pro variant\xxxx where variant is nothing, Plus or Premium and xxxx is may be a year or is not there.

  2. Scroll down the list of files and find videodeluxe, it may be displayed as videodeluxe.exe, in either case it will have a small blue icon next to the name - mine for MEP Premium 2020 looks like this

  3. Right click the videodeluxe file and select Properties

  4. In the dialog that opens select the Details tab - see image below - there you will find the program name and version number.

  5. Close the dialog.
