Program Monitor and Media Pool window boxes unchecked after start up

JBA wrote on 6/25/2020, 11:14 AM

A new issue - all of a sudden, when I open the program, my program monitor and media pool boxes are unchecked and I have to reformat the screen. If I close the program and the boxes are checked, when I open it, boxes are back to unchecked and the screen only shows tracks, no monitor or media pool. What did I do? How do I fix it. Thanks

Hi.

It would help if we knew for certain which program and version you are using. Also operating system and pc specs please as asked for in the forum 'Important Posts-link'

A 'print screen' grab posted here could also be useful showing the problem. You can use the blue upload button above.

I have no idea. But, simply press F9 to reset the windows.

You can also define your own window setup and save it under Window, Window arrangement....name. The first one will have shortcut of F10.

Sorry I thought I put Movie Edit Pro Premium in the description. The unchecked/checked boxes are under the windows tab. I'll try F9 to reset. However, this is a new issue. Just started all of a sudden yesterday.. Something has happened. I didnt have to reset the windows prior to whatever has happened that causes me to have to reset each time I open the program. I seem to be having a lot of technical issues. But I have a deadline and this project has to be completed by tomorrow night. I think I need to start the process of back and forth emails with tech support, but I just don't have time. It would be so awesome if I didnt run into corrupted files issues and windows that have to be reset. Thanks for the help, everyone! I appreciate it.

Unfortunately, F9 does not reset my windows. When I open the program, all I see are tracks, and F9 doesn't do anything. I still have to go to the windows tab, and recheck the "Program Monitor" and "Media Pool" boxes. So frustrating and time consuming.

@JBA

Hi

This sound like the programs initialisation file is not being written to on closing the program. Try resettting the program to ists default settings, File, Settings, Reset program settings to defaults

Note this will reset any folder path and other customisations.

If this does not work locate the videodeluxe.ini file it should be in

C:\Users\Username\AppData\Roaming\MAGIX\Videodeluxenn_premium where nn = version number

and delete it.

If you cannot see the Appdata folder because it is hidden, in the Windows File Explorer address bar type

%appdata%\Magix\

from there locate the correct folder for the .ini file.

This will also reset any customisations you have made.

On restarting the program a new ini file will be created.

Thanks for the help. I'm having an additional problem that started at the same time as the other issues - the program will not close. If I close the program, it reopens itself (all by itself) within a minute of closing. I'm sure all this is related. I'm hesitant to make the recommended changes in the middle of this project. I cannot lose this work. I'm able to muddle through, so I gotta keep moving forward and finish. But thanks!

Hi

. . . . I'm having an additional problem that started at the same time as the other issues - the program will not close. If I close the program, it reopens itself (all by itself) within a minute of closing. I'm sure all this is related. . . .

I assume you mean the process that continues running after the main interface is closed and it was terminated in Task Manager, ie. if so then this may be the cause of your issues with settings not being retained - one of the things the program does on shut down is to save the current state of the windows and panes positions etc.

The 'issue' is appears to be due to the program doing some 'housekeeping' in the background, this should be allowed to finish, it can take a while (minutes not hours), the restarting disappears.

If you are using WIndows Defender as your Antivirus, vtry turning off the Protected folder feature - this has been known to cause issues.
