save error

For all who may have similar problems, here is the solution: The "controlled folder access" in Defender's ransomware protection, which was turned on, prevented installation. I turned it "off" and the installation successfully completed.

Sound like your initial problem was caused by a corrupted program, so re-installing it resolve your save issue.

Casual home video editing just for FUN since MEP 5.5.4.1 (2006??)

Here's an update: After re-installing, I turned the ransomware-protection in Defender back on, as was suggested. However, I still could not save any edits. When I turn the protection "off" the "save" problem disappears. This only started happening after Feb. 9, when my Windows 10, 1809 update was installed. So: I can use MovieEdit Pro correctly only when ransomware protection is disabled. I just need to remember to enable it asgain after my edit and DVD burn is completed.

Hi

See this article and add Movie Edit Pro to the white list.

You may need to navigate to the MEP executable which is called videodeluxe.exe and should be in the folder - C:\Program Files\MAGIX\Movie Edit Pro Premium\2019 if you used the default installation location.

@Ron-2019_.

What you are reporting about the ransomware-protection and "protected folders" is a "feature" forced on users by the 1809 update to Win 10, I understand. (Magix software is not the only one to be adversely affected by this.)

Personally, and I haven't yet allowed the 1809 update to download and install, if it happens to me the first thing I will do is to turn this feature off, permanently! I have a very strong AV and firewall installed and very regularly updated so am happy to allow it to protect my computer from ransomware. The thought of having to turn this "enforced" Windows protection off, merely to effect a save, to then restart it is not one I would care to contemplate. 😡

Thanks, John, manually adding the .exe file to the approved folders list worked! I agree with Jeff that if I had needed to constantly turn protection on and off it would have been a pain--but Defender is the only anti-malware protection I have at the moment (I may re-acquire Malwarebytes, however).

Hi

. . . . manually adding the .exe file to the approved folders list worked . . . .

Thanks for letting us know.

IMO it looks like Microsoft are taking the lowest common denominator approach with respect to users, when adding features to Windows 10.

There should at least be a warning about the feature being turned on and how to modify/turn it off/remove it.

I have Defender turned off completely as my AV does all that is required and I am sat behind 2 firewalls, one hardware the other software.
