. . . . I'm hitting the red button but does not show the screen can anyone advise, please . . . .
When you click the red record button at the bottom of the preview monitor you should then get the following dialogs to set up for recording:
Select what to record
The recording options
Select the screen area to record by resizing the marquee and then click record
Did the lower right dialog darken - and the record timer will start counting up and the 2 parameters directly above it will be active - if so then you are recording - there is no other indication or countdown.
When you click the Stop button in the lower right dialog (which does not get recorded) the dialog will become active again. and return you back to image 2 - click OK and the recording will appear on the timeline.?
You said you have the store edition. Which store? Or do you mean you have the Basic variant of MEP? If so, I believe that does not have the screenrecord facility.
The Store edition is the equvalent of the Basic variant of the desktop program which does not have Screen Capture capability.
You need to upgrade to the desktop version of Movie Edit Pro - I would suggest getting the Premium version as this all features included and get it direct from Magix.
Could you make your screen shots larger please? It is difficult to make out any details.
Anyway. Are you mixing file types? I notice the second clip is marked mov. but can't make out the first clip type. Possibly MP4.
If it is only the mov. clip that is not showing you need have a copy of the QuickTime codec on your machine. Either the last updated one from Apple or the QuickTime Alternative one. Then the files should show images.
Expect a variation in quality between clips if using video from various sources.
The first screen grab shows the file not showing an image is labelled Mov. That needs an install of QuickTime as I said earlier as that is an Apple codec wrapper, not a Microsoft one. Really to get a proper screenshot of a section of timeline you need to expand both the X ans Y axis in the timeline editor like this.
So the info used on the clip can be read more easily.
If you have installed QuickTime and the clip is still not showing images in the timeline or when played, then you need to go to your project settings and turn off both hardware acceleration options in the last tab. Also alter the settings in the Display options tab as shown.
. . . . I download a video into the timeline I can hear voices but no images . . . .
Modifying @CubeAce comment re MOV files needing Quicktime (QT) installed - MOV files tend to come in 2 flavours AVC /h.264 encoded or JPEG encoded - only the latter JPEG encoded needs QT installed.
However from your screenshot in this comment, the MOV is already on the timeline, therefore it is either AVC/h.264 encoded if you do not have QT installed or if it is JPEG encoded you have Quicktime already installed
You can check which encoding is used with MediaInfo in the Tree view, Video section - the line Format will say either AVC, h.264 or JPEG. If it says anything else post the analysis in a comment.
No images in the preview monitor suggest that your computer may not be capable of using Hardware Acceleration - try turning off the 2 Hardware acceleration options in Program settings, Import/Export tab.
What is your computer specification? See this topic for details of what is required and put the information in your profile signature - see mine as an example.
I have managed to download and edit videos on my desktop at home by buying
HEVC Codec Upgrade (H265 Intel),
I have carried out the same process in the office I have even brought another upgrade and it does not work;((( Prior to buying the full version, I used the store addition and it worked fine, upgrading to a pro version is being problematic, have you got a number I can contact, please?
There is no number for you to contact, sorry. All support is via a written ticket system. And all the posters here are users, just like you, none of us are Magix employees.
Also, as requested before, please give us the full specifications of your computers! Read this post for the details we really do need!
Still does not work ;(((( i have copied and pasted my computer details below, a
any thoughts?

This thread began as a question about screen recording being unavailable because of the variant of MEP you then had.
You've now upgraded to Premium (I think?) but are still having problems, but with exactly what? There was an earlier mention of no image in the monitor, is that still the problem? If so, did you read and make the necessary changes suggested by @johnebaker when he wrote:
No images in the preview monitor suggest that your computer may not be capable of using Hardware Acceleration - try turning off the 2 Hardware acceleration options in Program settings, Import/Export tab.
Also, now you have posted at least some of the details of your computer, specifically the details of your CPU (thank you for adding those, it really does help) I think it barely meets the minimum specification requirements for the latest version of MEP (you can read them here).
Having trouble rotating a logo, I click on it-go into affects-rotation- mirror, when I rotate you can see the image move- when I press play- its moved but does not rotate, I have to press save or ?
