Selection handles

Robert-Johnson7648 wrote on 7/6/2021, 3:28 AM

At one time when I selected a shape I used to see double arrow 'handles' along each side for skewing and rounded handles at the corners for rotating.
Now I get small rectangles on the sides (which stretch shape) and circles on corners to rescale the shape and a 'rotate' tool centre top - but no skew options.

How do I get my original selection mode showing skew option.

Thanks

Hi and welcome to the forum

Check your Selector mouse mode - it sounds like you have switched to Show selection bounds.

Thank you for your response.

I suspect you are referring to the "Show selection bounds handles" icon. (rectangle surrounded with 8 dots). Unfortunately, It's missing from my Pro X18 Selector tool infobar.

Hi

Do you have the Show rotation handles icon on the Selector toolbar - a curved arrow with small red circle/crosshairs? If so select it.

If not try resetting the toolbars - note this will lose any customisations to the toolbars you have made.

Can you post a screenshot of the Selector toolbar.

Hi John,
Tried reset but that didn't do anything. Neither did clicking on first or fourth icon shown below. That just put 'X' in the centre
Hadn't realised I could send image. Hope this helps

Hi,

This image below is of Xara DPX16. You seem to be missing a button. Did you try selecting an object?

Hi

From the image it looks like the toolbar is partially off the screen - if you look at @browj2 image there is a small empty space to the left of the bar, I have the same, this is missing in you image.

Try undocking (drag) the toolbar and then re-dock it to see if the icon appears.

Hi John,
Good thinking - but no difference, so the mystery continues I'm afraid.
I installed XDPX on a brand new laptop 1 month ago and this has the same problem so I don't think a re-installation will help. Are you part of Magix support team? My version number is shown below.

My problem is that I want to freehand rotate a tall narrow shape precisely. Previously I could set my rotation point then zoom in and rotate from any corner handle. Now I have to zoom out and use the rotation post thing or play about with entering angle degrees.

Thanks, Bob

Hi

Moderators are users like yourself, Magix Support staff rarely visit the forums.

As this issue is also seen on another device and a reset did not fix it, I would suggest you raise a support ticket - see this guide on how to navigate the Support system ( link is at top of the page).
