Sound issues in new version

AndyMo wrote on 10/9/2019, 6:31 AM

I just upgraded (now at 19.0.1.23 which I think is MEP2020) and now the audio portion of my video clips have all un-sync'd by several seconds and yet the waveforms show correctly.

For example, you can see in the selected clip below there is some dialog. But when you preview it, you don't actually hear the dialog until 3 seconds after the scrubber has passed the waveform.

BUT - if I un-link the sound from the video, instead of just putting the sound on the track below, the program does this:

... which accurately represents what I hear - but note that the audio portion of the clip is also much longer than the video part. So i have to now re-synchronise and re-trim the audio for every clip!

any idea what is going on ?

Hi

Can you post a MediaInfo analysis of one of the source videos - copy the results from the Text view in MediaInfo and paste in your reply.

What was the camera or device the video was filmed with?

Hi

Thanks for the MediaInfo data.

. . . . all clips in the project were made with the same camera and it didn't happen to all . . . .

The only odd item in the data is the audio bitrate - it is a somewhat low sample rate, for stereo audio, of 16kHz are the clips that do work the same audio bitrate?

Do you have QT installed? MEP 2020 does not normally need it, however it may be that the it is struggling with the audio and needs QT.

Yes, QT is installed. I have narrowed it down to the Magix QT reader not playing nicely with QT7. THe former does not seem to handle my old camera files very well, so I guess I have to re-import everything for now. Real hassle, but newer footage videos should not have the same issue.

Thanks for the help

Have you uninstalled QT and tested the MEP importer?

Apple no longer support QT for Windows, QT7 is the last version and is nearly 4 years old.
