I downloaded the trial from the Magix website. Magix Movie Edit Pro Premium 21.01.85

I reinstalled the trial on another computer and found the Opera checkbox, It is required if you want to have the Update Notifier installed, that should be a separate option not a requirement to receive update notifications.

What I was doing was attempting to edit a home made DVD video, created by doing a direct record from a video camera. Magix recognized the DVD, told me it had to copy the files to the hard drive and gave me a choice of the movie or the entire DVD. I tried both. After it copied it to the hard drive is when I got the error message.

MEP reads the VOB files, no need do what you did. Copy the VOB files from the DVD to your hard drive and try to open one of them (on your hard drive) by dragging it onto the timeline.

Could analyse the files in question with Media Info utility and copy and paste the info from the Text or Tree view into your post.

It is possible the licensing issue is due to the sound in the file being Dolby Digital which will not be accessible until you buy the program.

Also can you just try downloading the Microsoft MPEG Video Extension from the MS store.
