You need to re-install some Microsoft components - note which Visual C++ redistributables versions you have installed in Windows settings, Apps and replace them following this article - do not install the ARM versions of the redistributables.
Hello, I am having this issue. I went through your steps and clicked on repair for the .exe files that gave that option. I am still dealing with the same error in Movie Edit Pro 2022. Please help. Thanks!
As the re-install of the C++ redistributables apparently has failed, we need more information and system checks:
Computer specification and program version, see this topic for what is required and please quote processor and graphics card make/model in full - I would suggest you put this information in your profile signature so we do not have to keep asking for it.
Are the graphics card drivers up to date?
A screen shot of the Program settings, Device options tab.
What is your Antivirus program?
Is MEP 2022 up to date with the latest patch - the latest is 21.0.1.104?
Assuming you are running Windows 10 or 11 - I would suggest the following:
Check the Windows system for any errors - see this tutorial and run steps 3 to 11, then check if this fixes the issue.
If that does not fix the issue - repeat the installation process as described here, do not omit step 1 - if the C++ redistributables installer is still on your PC and it is the x64 version then use this.
3. I don't know how to get the device options screenshot, though I tried.
4. I don't have any special antivirus program other than maybe Windows Defender?
5. I just installed the latest update a few days ago, so I believe so.
I went through the steps at the bottom and I reinstalled the Visual C++ stuff. Now, when I try to open the program, I get this error: "The code execution cannot proceed because mfc140u.dll was not found. Reinstalling the program may fix this problem."
I went to the link under my Magix account and it said I already had a newer version on my computer so it wouldn't install it. Should I completely uninstall and reinstall all Magix products on my computer? Thank you in advance for all your help!
. . . . I just installed the latest update a few days ago, so I believe so. . . .
I see from one of your previous posts you were running Movie Edit Pro (MEP) 2021 and before that earlier version(s).
The bad news is the laptop is not suitable for running Movie Edit Pro (MEP) 2022, it may also struggle with MEP 2021, it is below the minimum specification required, in particular the processor is not powerful enough, having 2 cores, and the amount of RAM is insufficient - with 4 GB after Windows and MEP have loaded this does not leave much memory for loading the video files.
I would suggest you revert back to an older version of MEP that worked on the laptop - the download may still be available, log in your account at magix.com and under My Products you should find your registered products.
@johnebaker I have been running it fine since May. I don't have an older version on my account. When I use it, I'm willing to close everything else on the computer. The outcome here can't be that I need to just go buy a computer. And if I don't have access to older versions, I'm stuck. Let's fix what we have.
. . . . I have been running it fine since May . . . .
MEP 2022 was released in 30th August 2021 and you updated to it in October , prior to that you were running MEP 2021 - see your previous 2 posts.
. . . . The code execution cannot proceed because mfc140u.dll was not found. Reinstalling the program may fix this problem. . . .
Try re-installing MEP as follows:
Download and install Revo Uninstaller Free and use this to initiate the uninstall of MEP 2022, when the uninstall is complete Revo will scan for leftover files, registry entries etc for deletion check they the relate to MEP and delete them. If you do not delete them the issue may still be there after the re-install.
Reboot the computer.
Download the MEP download manager/installer again and run it to download the program.
When the installer launches, disable Windows Defender temporarily and then continue the install.
Install the additional content - if you left this in the install folder from the previous install, this step will not take long.
Movie Edit Pro came out in August, not May so at that time you were using Movie Edit Pro 2021 not the 2022 version. If you bought the program in May you would be entitled to any upgrades or updates for one year from purchase.
The difference between an update and an upgrade is an update is fixing things that didn't work as they should have and should be safe to install, and an upgrade which you should look at the specs page to make sure your system will cope with the demand of a new version. While you are entitled under the terms and conditions of your contract to accept the offer it is not a compulsory move. The new version is not in effect 'broken' and there is nothing as such to be fixed in relation to usability on a properly specified machine.
While I would say personally Magix should be more specific and offer more advice over upgrading before a purchase is made it is always up the the consumer to check the viability of changing any software.
Upgrades are always but always are written for newer hardware to cope with the increased demands from newer camera equipment and newer monitor resolution standards and as hardware progresses older standards have to be dropped as they become incompatible with newer systems.
You do have the choice of contacting Magix and explaining why you might want your old version back and then declining any future invitations to upgrade the software.
You could try using this page to see if it is possible to return to an earlier version which it should be.
sales@magix.net and infoservice@magix.net also used to be active but I'm not as sure about those any more.
Last but not least you could raise a ticket with Magix Support and ask what you should do giving them as much information about your system as you gave us with a description of what is no longer working for you.
@johnebaker, I followed your instructions and then reinstalled the older version of MEP 2021 as I still had that installer on my computer. The program now opens, but brings up an error message as follows:
Troubleshooting A serious program error occurred. Error in module "MSVCR120.dll" (Load address: 0x00007FFBAFDB0000) to address 0x00007FFBAFDEC62C (Exception 0xc0000005 "ACCESS_VIOLATION")
Attention! The current project was saved automatically. However, internal memory structures may be damaged that do not enable correct saving. It is recommended that the movies are saved with new names for further editing.
Then, the buttons say: Save selected movies as... Continue program Close program
There are no movies in the list. It then forces a shut down of the program no matter what you choose. Any thoughts. This is different than last time.
