Video Converter not recognised

Andrew-Tull wrote on 1/28/2024, 1:28 PM

I can't get past "Please plug in video converter" in VideoSaver (latest version, downloaded today) driver load. I've tried re-installing the driver and followed the related posts but still no luck. The converter light is green. I've tried it on another laptop too. I've attached the spec of my machine

Any ideas, please?

@Andrew-Tull

Hi

The image you have posted of your computer specification is impossible to read and contains a lot of irrelevant information.

See this topic for what is required and please quote processor and graphics card make/model in full, and also what monitor/screen resolution(s) you are working with if this is a laptop.

As an example of how to layout the information see my Signature.

I would suggest you also put your computer specification in your profile signature so we do not have to keep asking for it.

Try temporarily turning of your Antivirus Reatlime/Ransomware/Folder protection feature during the install, these are known to cause some issues with Magix and other software installers.

Hi John.

I can't make out most of it but it's an HP Notebook, 2,900MHz 2 core four thread Intel CPU (2019) with an HD620 GPU and 8GBs of ram running Win 11. No mention of a separate GPU.

Hi Ray,

. . . .  running Win 11 . . . .

AFAICS after some adjustments in PSP with the image it is Windows 11 Pro N

Hi Andrew

If this is the case then this may be cause of the issue.

Windows 11 Pro N doesn’t include the following media-related features of Windows 11 Pro, in particular:

  • Windows Media Player application
  • Windows Media DRM
  • Windows Media Format
  • Windows Media Player Runtime
  • Media Foundation
  • VC-1, MPEG-4, and H.264, H.265, and H.263 codecs
  • MPEG, WMA, AAC, FLAC, ALAC, AMR, and Dolby Digital audio codecs
  • Media Feature Pack

If not already done, I would suggest all the above be installed for the software to function correctly, other features of Windows are affected and may not work properly if Media Feature Pack isn’t installed on the computer.

Thanks for your help with this guys and sorry for the eyesight test. I'm still not able to load the driver but have loaded Media Player & the Media Feature Pack (I had to repair the O/S first). I've loaded some codecs too - how can I tell if I have everything you've listed, please?

@Andrew-Tull

Hi

. . . . I've loaded some codecs too - how can I tell if I have everything you've listed, please . . . .

Depending on what is missing, particulalry the codecs, you should get error messages mentioning some dll or codec is missing.

Have you tried downloading and installing the driver from here and followed the installation instructions?

If the USB video capture dongle is marked K0065 or K0067 then download the Premium driver otherwise go by the colour of the dongle.

I've tried again and followed the installation instructions. I can't see anything marked on the dongle so I'm using the black version. I get this:

at 1% but the counter keeps going up until 95% when it stops. When I cancel it says device not found.

Hi

With the dongle plugged in, open Windows Device Manager. In the Sound, Video & Game controllers section is there an entry for the dongle - the name may be similar to USB 2861, USB 28600 etc.

I would suggest you also raise a Support ticket, link is at the top of the page:

  • Select Video Easy and scroll down to the bottom of the page
  • Select Contact Support
  • Send E-mail
  • Select Rescue your Videotapes and fill in the information you have given us above, include the images as an attachment , and that you have already followed the installation procedure.
  • Send the request.

I'm not seeing anything where you suggest but plugging the dongle in does add an entry to the USB controllers section:
