Video Pro X13, Realtek Audio, not enough memory, also freezes on exi

montygew wrote on 12/1/2021, 6:57 AM

After loading up the program and opening project, when I press the play button the following message appears:

Cannot open waveform device ‘Speakers / Headphones ‘(Realtek for playback !

Reason:

There is not enough memory available for this task. Quit one or more applications to increase available memory, and than try again.

ALSO I have the latest version 19.0.1.128 installed. The program freezes on shutdown.

I have nVidia 1050 graphics card installed on my Dell XP’s 15 laptop but as I cannot save the settings I cannot activate it!

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I have Video Pro X6 which worked ok until I installed X13 and now I get the same problem regarding Realtek memory problem.

Dell XP’s 15 9560 1TB hd

windows 10 v20h2 build 19042.1348, I ran win update which said there are no updates available.

Hi

We need more information:

. . . . I have Video Pro X6 which worked ok . . .

Was this on the same laptop?

  1. Computer specification and program version, see this topic for what is required and please quote processor and graphics card make/model in full - I would suggest you put this information in your profile signature so we do not have to keep asking for it.

  2. Are the graphics card drivers up to date?

  3. A screen shot of the Program settings, Device options tab.

Hi.

What is the resolution and frame rates of the files you are using?

How much physical motherboard ram does your system have?

It is a big leap in performance between VPX 6 and VPX 13. Doing the same types of projects in the new version is going to need much more processing power and memory than in VPX 6.

That may sound mad but the program is written for today's hardware, pretty much the same as when VPX 6 was written.

However, do check Windows 10 is up to date and that you have the latest drivers for your nvidia graphics card.

The latest nvidia DCH driver is 472.39

Latest Windows build is 19044.1387.

Thank you John and Ray for your advice, I will upload my details shortly. Changing the audio playback to Direct sound and the sound card to nVidia 1050 in the program settings seems to have solved the problem with the Realtek audio, but as I can’t save the settings on exiting the program it just means changing them on each boot up. I don’t understand why changing these settings previously did not work? All I can think of is that I accidentally changed something else without realising. Anyway I don’t mind altering a few settings on startup so I’m happy.
thank you

Hi Dave.

Are you trying to open an old project from VPX 6 or starting a new one?

If it's an old project there may be an effect missing or a setting that is incompatible with the new program causing the crash. If it is a new project then it could be a component in your laptop.

Ray.
