When I move over a wav file into the software, the video speeds up. the audio is fine. i play the file outside the software everything is in sync, it only happens when i put the file in movie studio

When you import the WAV file or the video files are you getting a message that it does not match the project settings and do you want to adjust?
What are the project settings? A screen shot would help.
Download and install MediaInfo and analyse one of the video clips and WAV files and post the results, see this tutorial on how to setup MediaInfo and analyse a video/audio clip for all the data required.
