I am not that familiar with AS (Audio Studio) which may differ some from SF Pro. Make sure you use select PAUSE, to suspend recording. If you use "STOP", you will need to reset the cursor to the end of the previously recorded selection, or the previously recorded data will be overwritten when recording commences again. Enabling the "Create Regions" mode, make it easy to ID the pause points.. or hit the 'M" key to create a marker. Alternately, you could choose "Create new window" mode, which would start a new file each time 'Record' is initiated.
In SF Pro, these settings (and the record level meter) are in "View> Record Options" menu. FWIW, 'Record ready' (Arm) must be selected to activate the meter. Again, the Audio Studio version may differ some.
btw, welcome to the Magix Sound Forge users community @Dave-Wheeler.
The only solution I can think of so far is to leave the recording running whilst flipping the disc and then removing that portion of the file post recording but not checked if the wizard lets me do that yet
That sounds like a good work around however what you are experiencing should not happen, the recording should start again when you hit record again after pausing.
Can you post a screenshot of the recording dialog when you have paused the recording and when you pause recording does the timeline cursor jump back to the beginning of the recording?
You could try hitting the 'Enter' key, which is a 'PAUSE' shortcut in SF Pro (and Vegas).
As well, there may be a manual record option, not using the 'Wizard', but as I stated, I'm not familiar with AS. Maybe someone with knowledge of AS can comment..
Jeff, saving file by clicking next will work but I would only get half a LP on each CD. It only processes what has been recorded after the recording is restarted. ie I only get side 2 in effect. Post recording processing still works but I don't get the opportunity to delete the part of the recording I don't want with the wizard. It's a real pain to add markers etc manually. I only upgraded to Magix because the old sony version (which worked perfectly) has been blocked from updating through the registration file again. Quite annoyed i've paid an extra £20 to get something that doesn't work!!

When re-activating legacy SCS (Sony) products, you must use the email address you used when it was initially registered with SCS. That info was ported over to Magix upon acquisition.
Then why did Magix accept the upgrade was valid with the address I used? I'm pretty certain the email account I used with Sony is with a provider who has terminated its service so that would be impossible!

Sorry (rraud), but I'm pretty hacked off with Magix as I think you can tell. Thanks for that and contact details great thanks. I've struggled to find a useful link. What makes you think its a registration problem as all other functions work?
