Hello. I keep having an issue where VPX 13 Version 19.0.1.133 freezes everytime I add a new clip to the project i am working on. I end up having to use the task manager to force the program to quit and reopen it. Has there been a fix for this yet?
Sorry to hear about the problem you are experiencing but, because this is not something that any other user has reported, I am honestly not sure there is anything to fix!
So, to help us to help you, please first tell us a lot more about your computer. See this post for the details we really do need.
Then please tell us rather more about the clips you are importing, their format, source etc., etc. If you are not sure about any of this, please read this tutorial about downloading, installing and using the free MediaInfo utility to analyse one of your clips.
Processor Intel(R) Core(TM) i9-9900KF CPU @ 3.60GHz 3.60 GHz Installed RAM 16.0 GB System type 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor GPU NVIDA GeForce RTX 2080TI I am using the most current windows 10 update.
The clips that I am importing are MP4 format 360 video files.
Attached is a picture of my program settings in MAGIX
Unfortunately, there is still detail we really do need, sorry! Please re-read the post that both @CubeAce and I linked to and give us ALL the details requested.
A MediaInfo analysis of one of the video clips would tell us a lot more about the actual codecs etc. it requires. In addition, 360 videos are very resource-demanding. When you say it freezes when you import a new clip, could it be that is actually "processing" the file (in the background) to make it playable in the app? How long have you waited for the app to "unfreeze" before using Task Manager?
I note your CPU does not include a built-in GPU. This could well be a factor in the problem you are seeing. I assume you are not overclocking it? I see from the intel spec page it can actually run at up to 5GHz.
I also wonder whether 16GB RAM is really sufficient for multiple 360 video clips.
Also, how large and what type of Hard Drive(s) do you Have? If there is only one, that drive is running simultaneously all of the OS, the program and the actual video files! That is a pretty big ask of any system.
Sorry to pepper you with questions but we do need your help to help us to help you!
Hello all, I am using the NVDIA studio Driver V 511.09 also I have a 1TB hard drive as my C Drive and an additional 4 TB external hard drive as well.
I thought the same thing since these files sometime tend to be a few gb but i waited for about 15 mins and it would not respond, and i have never had an issue with it freezing before now.
Also attached is a picture of a mediainfo analysis of one of the clips I used
Thanks for the MediaInfo - the video looks to be standard 4K (4096x2160) AVC/h.264 from a GoPro, this is a resolution we do not often see.
The 'odd' setting is the frame rate is set to Variable, however the minimum and maxiumum framerates are the same.
Does VPX freeze 'permanently' or eventually return to normal after a short period?
To test, try recording a video at 4K UHD 3840 x 2140, constant framerate and import this into VPX to see if it freezes.
For future reference it is better to post the data from the Text view in MediaInfo as @emmrecs requested and gave you a link to on how to setup MediaInfo - you can then copy and paste the data directly into to a comment.
The new RTX driver 511.09 was released shortly after I posted - I have not tested this yet.
