i realize this must be a ridiculous question, but i keep searching for it to no avail. i record videos using my iphone, so all of my files are MOVs and i just want a link to wherever i have to go to purchase the codec.
If you are not wanting to export HEVC, then install the Microsoft HEVC codec if not already installed.
However, if the video does not import then you will need Quicktime for Windows installed.
If you are wanting to export to HEVC then add any video to the timeline and select the HEVC export - this should then open a dialog telling you the HEVC encoder needs to be purchased online - follow the instructions .
An additional issue you are likely to encounter is the iPhone creating Variable Frame Rate video, you can check this using MediaInfo to analyse an iPhone video clip and looking for the following line in the video section of the MediaInfo analysis:
Frame rate mode : Variable
This is likely to cause issues with audio syncing - the video will need converting to Constant framerate using a converter such as Handbrake.
See this tutorial if you are not familiar with MediaInfo, on how to setup MediaInfo and analyse a video clip.
this should then open a dialog telling you the HEVC encoder needs to be purchased online - follow the instructions .
@johnebaker it doesn't give me any instructions, it just says "unfortunately, the function 'HEVC-Codec' is not available due to licensing conditions" and then gives me the option to click "okay" which only closes that window. this is why i just wanted a link to where i buy the codec.
