Won't run

Stephen-Smith wrote on 2/10/2021, 8:03 AM

I have just bought Movie Edit Pro 2021 Plus, and downloaded it. It ran once, but I shut it down before attempting to load a movie clip.

Since then click on the desktop or menu icon and absolutely nothing seems to happen. I have tried uninstalling and installing 3 times. what's going on?

This is a Microsoft Surface PC with Windows 10 Home

Hi Stephen, and welcome to the user to user forums.

The first question from me should be please give the full specifications of your Microsoft Surface PC as there are lots of variations. Second, are all your drivers and operating system up to date?

It's important that your system at least meets all of the minimum requirements found on this page including the CPU minimum clock speed and number of cores, or the system will lock up.If you are editing anything larger than HD footage resolution wise it would have to exceed the minimum specs.

Video editing is the most intensive type of program to push a system to its limits and trip it into a non responsive state.

Ray.

Welcome to the Magix user to user forums.

First, can you give us a lot more information about your computer? This post will show you the level of detail we really need. It is possible your computer is somewhat "under-powered" to be able to fully run the app. Did you check the system requirements on this page and that your computer at least meets them and, preferably, exceeds them by some margin?

The action of shutting the app down before attempting to load a movie clip should not cause a problem, but I suspect that some part of the appropriate .ini file was not properly created or updated on first run, hence the subsequent problems.

Unfortunately, uninstalling and reinstalling possibly would not help because the uninstaller removes only the files, folders and registry entries which the actual installation creates; it knows nothing of files etc. created on first run of the app and hence, does not remove them. It seems more than likely that it is one of these files that is causing the problem for you!

In this situation you need to completely remove everything connected with the original installation. Our usual advice in this situation is to download and install the free Revo Uninstaller, point it to your MEP installation and allow it to fully run, including its Advanced scan. The latter will show you a list of ALL the folder, files and registry entries it thinks are connected to MEP. Check carefully what it lists, especially if you have ANY other Magix app installed on your computer.

Once it has finished, reboot your computer and try again to reinstall.
