RE: VHS to digital via Firewire problem; MEP 2015
@Jim_H If you rendered them into an AVI format (as opposed to DV-AVI) they will be bigger. DV-AVI is 13gb/hour, whereas for example Lagarith (a lossless AVI format), is 30gb per hour. It will be better quality than a comparable DV-AVI export. In

RE: VHS to digital via Firewire problem; MEP 2015
@Jim_H Hi Jim I think the confusion here is that you have captured to DV-AVI which is what the ADVC-300 converts to by default to send via Firewire to Magix and your My record folder. DV-AVI is a medium compressed format and is the same as your

RE: VHS to digital via Firewire problem; MEP 2015
@Jim_H Hi, First, do not export to AVI; this will just give you huge files and no benefit. If you need an intermediate, use Magix format, mxv. It will give you smooth editing in MEP. Secondly, I am presently digitizing some VHS cassettes - directly

RE: VHS to digital via Firewire problem; MEP 2015
@Jim_H I wasn't aware you were talking about two files that were the same Jim. Sorry. No, there is little point to having another file other than the original unless you plan some destructive editing. (not likely). The only advantage is if the

Ray. Thanks for the quick response. However, I'm not sure I completely understand your answer. Do you mean that the new and larger AVI file is a benefit, in that it contains more data as a future archive for the original material? Or that I

@Scenestealer Showing my ignorance. I read AVC as AVI. And even if I had read it as AVC, I didn't know that that was H.264. Thanks for the clarification. Am anxious now to see if encoding is faster.

I have now been able to capture my VHS tapes to my satisfaction. I recently captured about 4 hours of programming I had on one tape, which I split into 2 sections (2 different programs, each with their own issues for cleaning up with Neat Video, and

Video does not import into MM 64 bit 2020
I have been trying to get a short video into MM 2020 Premium so I can sync/score a track to the soundpools I purchased. 1. I surf to file manager>my computer>etc. and locate the file 2. NO file imports, not even a mxv file from Movie Edit Pro,

RE: Video quality very bad after export /MAGIX MOVIE EDIT PRO PREMIUM
I was going to guess compression was the culprit. And then I thought I might try to export to AVI or something with little to no compression to see if there's any softening there. And then I thought "I'll wait for Ray to try it." 🙂 OTOH, I don't

@emmrecs Hi Jeff Cannot replicate in .82 patch using mp4's, thumbnails start appearing on timeline within seconds. Using AVI files - AVC/h.264 and MPEG 3 audio - took a little longer to create the thumbnails eg for 15 clips (total run time 2m30s)

@johnebaker @CubeAce @Scenestealer Thanks all for your inputs. As soon as I posted that Mediainfo analysis, I thought "hang on, that 96k audio doesn't sound right". So I did a recapture overnight with Virtual Dub but did it at 48khz (previously, I

    RE: Big AVIs-Displaying Audio Waveform
@AAProds Hi Alwyn Thanks for the MediaInfo analysis - this looks to be the same as an issue in January another user had. The AVI video is a type 2 AVI file - the audio stream is a separate stream from the video which MEP does not handle properly -

    Big AVIs-Displaying Audio Waveform
I'm doing some VHS transfers. I'm using Virtual Dub to capture my AVIs in Lagarith format. When I import them into MEP, no audio waveform is created, and there is no right-click option to create it after the file is on the timeline. These AVIs are

    RE: Saving to MP4
@johnebaker @emmrecs @browj2 @Dosco OK. I think my mistake on that one. Somehow I've imported AVI files I didn't realise I'd created. I normally don't touch avi files so at present I can't remember why I created them in the first place. Obviously

    Video Formats
I am a new user of Magix Photostory Deluxe. I have embarked on a multi volume “Story”, probably divided into a 5 DVD set that spans 50 years of mostly photos and some movie and video clips. So, I am dealing with a lot of older low-quality material

@browj2 Hi John. What do you use it for, or hope to use it for? I haven't suffered from sound drifting on a video recording since my cameras stopped using avi as a medium. As for the beat marker. I didn't find that effective either. The only time I
