Crash 2 minutes après l ouverture

laurent-cabrillat wrote on 7/6/2021, 11:19 AM

Hello

I have VIDEO DELUXE PLUS on a WIN10 64bit PC. Every time I launch a project, the program freezes after two minutes. I uninstalled and reinstalled everything. It worked for an hour, and since then it has started again. Impossible to work.

And I have a project to give to a client tomorrow ...

here is the log:

@laurent-cabrillat

I have removed a substantial part of the error logs which you posted because the error in all cases is the same, namely:

Error in module "KERNELBASE.dll" (load address: 0x00007FFC1C940000) at address 0x00007FFC1C974B89 (Exception 0xe06d7363 "")

Kernelbase.dll is a Windows file. You need to investigate how to correct such an error, it is not specifically anything to do with Magix Video deluxe, aka Movie Edit Pro. A very quick Google search on kernelbase.dll leads to this page.

Which version of VdL/MEP are you running?

Jeff

Causing windows to crash doesn t mean it is not a pb with your software. I use a lot of professional softwares on this computer with absolutely no pb. MVP is the only software causing this pb.

laurent-cabrillat wrote on 7/7/2021, 3:18 AM

I did anyway the procedure to repair kernell.dll. Everything went perfectly, and MVP still crashes after 2 minutes...

Can someone reach me to help solve this pb before I purchase another software ??

emmrecs wrote on 7/7/2021, 3:26 AM

@laurent-cabrillat

These are user to user forums, so the software is not ours and there are no Magix staff who post here, sorry.

I use a lot of professional software on my computer also and none of my Magix programs cause this problem for me, including VdL/MEP so it is not possible to say, without any doubt, that VdL is the sole reason for the crashes you have experienced.

As I asked before, exactly which version of VdL do you have?

Did you look at the Google page I linked in my earlier reply? With what result?

Ultimately, I think you may need to create a Support Ticket and ask Magix Technical Support staff for their assistance.

Hi Laurent.

If you need help from forum members it always helps a great deal to get a speedier reply if you give the forum a complete rundown of both the program and version you are using, which build of Windows you are on and a complete systems specification as requested in the sticky topics on the first page of the forum.

All I can ascertain about your system from the information you have already given is you are a few updates behind in your Windows build and have what seems to be an older processor along with not much physical memory. If that is the case and there is not much free drive space left on your C: drive, that could be one reason for the program to keep crashing.

Otherwise you will have to do as Jeff suggested and contact the technical staff who will probably ask for the same information.

Ray.

Can you give the exact processor model please?

Also how much free space is on your C: drive and where is the project folder located? (which drive?).

@laurent-cabrillat

An i7 what? You say a workstation but the GeForce 710 is a mobile (laptop) GPU and is relatively under-powered.

898 MHz Direct X 11 only support, with 1GB of DDR3 memory. Running DDR3 memory suggests an older processor.

At the moment it looks like you would have to turn off any hardware acceleration for Movie Edit Pro to work and not cause problems but again this a guess based on the lack of specific information from you.

Looking for the minimum specs to run MEP 2020 your system should be running the program but possibly if it is a laptop without being able to use an Intel inboard GPU this may be causing problems hence my advice for trying to turn off any hardware acceleration.

Hi Laurent.

While the i7-9700KF is a newer CPU it has not got an Inboard GPU and I'm not sure about its multi-threading capabilities, and if I am reading this correct you have 2 Nvidia GeForce GT 710 graphics cards plugged in. These are not mobile processors but are desktop cards but quite low performance, In which case I have no idea how to configure your system to get the best use of them. I suspect that this may be the root cause of the problems but I'm not certain. If you can get Movie Edit Pro to work without crashing (but may become sluggish in use) by turning off hardware acceleration then I suspect that is the problem.

You should really now raise a support ticket with Magix tech support with all the information you have provided here.Go here to see how to contact support.

Ray.

Hello

After messing with GPU configuration in WIN10 it seems to be working for the past 10 minutes...

I ll keep you posted if it crashes again.

Thank you everybody !

One other thought.

Make sure you have nvidia DCH drivers for your cards and not the game ready drivers that will not work with MEP.

@laurent-cabrillat, @CubeAce

Hi

Unfortunately the computer specification shows that this computer is not ideal for video editing as it is missing or does not have several features as @CubeAce has commented.

Additionally the GT 710 does not support the Nvidia Studio drivers - it is too old, however the latest gaming drivers (471.11) for the GT 710 do support DirectX 12 on Windows 10.

I agree with @CubeAce's assessment that the dual GT 710 graphics cards may be the root cause of the crashing.

. . . . After messing with GPU configuration in WIN10 it seems to be working for the past 10 minutes. . . . .

Which settings did you change?

Did you have the 2 GT 710 graphics cards are some-how linked together running 'as one'?

AFAICS they cannot be connected by SLI as they do not support this feature.

Hi Laurent.

Looking at the system more closely I'm also not sure what happens when the memory on the motherboard has faster clock speeds than the memory in the video cards. This is the first time I've come across this sort of combination of parts and may also be a part of the problem. If you do suffer any further crashes I would personally ditch one card or replace both with one higher end card that has two monitor outputs if you are running two screens.

. . . . I'm also not sure what happens when the memory on the motherboard has faster clock speeds than the memory in the video cards. . . . .

To all intents and purposes the transfer of data proceeds at the speed of the slowest device the faster device has to wait until the next block of data is ready to be sent or received.

If you mix RAM sticks of different speeds in dual channel mode then they all would run at the speed of the slowest, you cannot mix types eg DDR3 with DDR4 etc.

Hi John.

So basically you end up throttling down the CPU?

Then how come you get net gains when using a higher performing card that uses a faster set of vram?

Is it the difference in signal paths?

Ray.

No - the CPU can be doing other things, the process is complicated, however in a nutshell the speed of the VRAM and RAM are independent, once in the VRAM the data is processed at 'full speed', transfer into/out of RAM is at RAM speed.

A rough analogy would be traffic flow and traffic lights
