HELP PLEASE!

Among all the Magix typical problems, this seems hopeless: as in video attached, when in Proxy the video can be seen, when not in proxy, the image disappear, just a few pixels can be seen. Of course that at export, those pixels are all there is... No video. The ,mov is ok, works on everything but Magix, the PC is performant, the same video works not long ago well... It's like a course, this program...

Please help!!!

The video doesn't give necessary information.

You mention your PC but give no specs. Give detailed specs like mine in my signature below. You didn't say what type of video (what created it) or if you used any effects on it. Nor did you give what version of the software you are using.

Read the information HERE if you want help. Answer all the questions in this thread as completely as you can.

In addition to @Reyfox comment with a link to what is required - do include a MediaInfo analysis of a source video clip you are using, see this tutorial on how to setup MediaInfo and analyse a video clip for all the data required.

A screen shot of the Program settings, Device options tab  would help.

I see now that if I convert the .mov into .mp4, and change the video in project, it is working. This may lead to a conclusion...

But hope to find the true solution, because there are too many projects and videos to be changed... :(

Hi.

The results and cures you have found would suggest a hardware deficiency to me in as much as it would cope better with less demanding video files or variations of video files within one project as variables frame rates and resolutions / aspect ratios eat up processing power as each is read and converted for display within the program which has to be read and converted in real time for playback.

It would be useful to do as John EB has asked and supply a complete System spec including which processor type and model number as well as the full spec of the graphics card as we can only see its series type and not model as they vary a lot in capability and amount of vram.

While Movie Edit Pro supports Radeon video cards the video cards do not support NVEC so there is no hardware encoding support from those cards as far as I'm aware although the vram may be used. So that could be one reason your system is not as responsive as systems using an nvidia card would be. I may be wrong but one of the others here can help confirm that. Possibly @johnebaker

My main concern though is the mixing of video clips of varying frame rates and aspect ratios. Different file formats can also impact performance. This is always going to be more demanding on any system and a possible cause of degradation of performance.

Hi. No problem.

Just go to the top right hand corner of any page of the website and do the following.

There is as far as I know there are no compatibility issues with the Radeon card. It is just that Radeon cards do not support NEVC which is the encoding used for hardware support within MEP and VPX as far as I know. That and the Intel GPU support for some functions. There is very little information from Magix as to why or how such things work and what is the best hardware for the program although their own citations of what was used in their own systems for the results claimed in their testing does give some clues that they seem to prefer Intel nvidia combinations.

So from the forums perspective we have educated guesses based on previous trouble shooting of other peoples problems rather than insider knowledge.

Some contributors here have better understanding of such things than others such as John EB @johnebaker and may have further or better understanding of the problem and further comments to make. I would defer to such more experienced views. I too am learning as I go along.

I wish I can understand all those technical terms... :) Maybe someday someone find directly the problem and the solution. For now, I convert .mov in .mp4 and replace, reedit and so on the videos I have now in progress. Anyway, Magix is a nice program but wit to many issues. I didn't update with the latest variants, because each time I done this, in past, every project was severely messed up... Anyway, thank you all, guys and wish you a nice day!

Hi

@Former user

. . . . Am i misreading this thread . . . .

I do believe so - the MediaInfo analyses show the bad video is h.264/AVC, the good video is h.265/HEVC and both are variable frame rate.

@octavc

Do you have any 3rd party 'all in one' codec packs installed eg the likes of K-Lite and similar packs that are available?

If not, the problem, as I see it, is the Variable Frame Rate in both the video clips

Try converting the 'bad' file to Constant Frame Rate using a video converter that can do this type of conversion, Handbrake does, and then test with CFR file.

The driver version number - 21.30.23.04 - indicates you are missing several updates - the current version is 21.50.02.01.

Hi Gid.

I'm not an expert on all the codecs that MEP or VPX can handle but the line in the troublesome video clip that is Codec ID                                 : mp42 (isom/mp41/mp42)

I think is the problem and is typical of a file downloaded from YouTube although not exclusive to YouTube.

I am willing to think I could be wrong on this as I say I'm not completely at ease with breaking down all of a wrappers codec information.

No, I don't have K-Lite... But I have now a new suspicion. I saw that something is destroying some of the pictures. It can not be open, and the thumbnail show partial of the picture, and in rest are colored pixels or just a color. Don't knew if you ever see that. And I thing is possible that "something" to destroy also movies. It acts rarely, it is something undetectable by any antivirus, but I think that "thing" might be a cause... Yesterday I saw a video corrupt in that way and deleted. It was located in the folder where the .mov that I work with, was kept. I will provide a picture as soon as I will encounter that destroyed file.

@octavc It's easy to get mixed up 👍

If you haven't already install QuickTime 7.7.9, it has codecs that help play .MOV files https://support.apple.com/kb/dl837?locale=en_GB

There's also windows H.265 HEVC extension, it costs 0.79p but download is fast if you have PayPal, i might help, might not but doesn't cost much 🤷‍♂️

I have both installed, and QT and HEVC, thank you very much for your help.

@octavc

I don't know of any virus that could do that to stored videos but I would check your storage drive for read write faults as it could be signs of a failing drive. If it is an external drive check the connecting lead and wiggle the connectors to make sure of a solid connection. Last but not least, check you have the correct graphics driver for your GPU.
