just upgraded and i can't work out how to do anything I used to do

so, i upgraded from movie studio platinum 2016 to movie studio platinum 2022, only it doesn't seem to resemble the version i've been happily using - like at all.

perhaps this seems an odd question, but have i actually upgraded (what i actually did online) or have I bought into a totally different product? I'm utterly confused. Did the software get bought? I know MAGIX was involved before.

I know change can be an issue, but this feels like i've bought an entirely different product line, and i'm not sure what i'm missing - I've read the manual, and am lost, everywhere.

I can't loop a video clip andI can't find an option for that, or any information on how to do that.

I've tried using chroma key but it is PAINFULLY slow...click a button and wait 5 seconds for it to change...

I've bought a refurbished PC - movie studio 2016 works like a dream; everything is great, but movie studio 2022 is simply terrible. Are there some settings I'm missing? Again, I can't find anything for that.

I'd appreciate any help on how to get started as the 'quick start' doesn't tell you anything helpful.

I'd hoped to simply upgrade from 2016 to 2022, get some new features etc but this is anything but that...

I'd be grateful for any help getting this software to work for my situation.

Many thanks

Andy B

@Andy-Berry

Hi and welcome to the forum.

Magix Movie Studio (MMS) 2022 is an entirely different program from Vegas Movie Studio (VMS) for which development was stopped by the Vegas team with the last version being VMS 17.

Magix Movie Studio was originally called Movie Edit Pro (MEP) and, after the demise of VMS, it was given the capability of importing VMS project files limited to basic edits only.

There are series of tutorials listed here, mainly based on MEP and apply to MMS with some differences in later versions such as MMS 2022 in the Size, Position & Rotation effect..

. . . . I've bought a refurbished PC - movie studio 2016 works like a dream; everything is great, but movie studio 2022 is simply terrible. Are there some settings I'm missing? . . . .

To give you the most appropriate answers - we need more information on your computer specification and Windows version, see this topic for what is required and please quote processor and graphics card make/model in full, and also what monitor/screen resolution(s) your are working with if this is a laptop.

I would suggest you put this information in your profile signature so we do not have to keep asking for it.

Are the graphics card drivers up to date?

A screen shot of the Program settings, Device options tab may help.

What video formats and resolutions are you working with?
