Lockups and font size problem w/ 3D animated text

MF.Laboo wrote on 3/25/2021, 8:21 PM

I'm trying to use the "Waves" template in Title Templates - 3D Animation Basic, but the issues don't seem to be template-specific. The first problem is that every time I edit text and close the Magix 3D white editing window, it locks up VPX and I have to close VPX from Task Manager. I can work around this but it's very tedious. (I can open the editing window and close it without any editing and it doesn't lock up VPX then.)

The specific second problem is that I'm trying to fit the text string into a 1280 high x 720 wide phone-video format and the displayed text is much too big, basically filling the entire width of the source and preview windows and bleeding off the sides of the actual video.

In this case I specified a font size of 14, same size as I'm using in Title Editor static text. It shrinks to the proper size in the Magix 3D editing window itself -- but when I drop the title into my video the text is the same size as the default "Fit to Width" font size. The font size changes aren't carried over, and "Fit to Width" likewise seems to ignore my actual 720-pixel width.

Saving my changes with a new .x3d filename, then dropping that into my project without further editing, doesn't solve the problem. The font size change isn't reflected in the project no matter what I try.

VPX v. 18.0.1.95 64 bit running on an HP with a 64 bit 3.3GHz i5 and 24Gb RAM.

Hi, and welcome to the user to user forums.

I'm not quite sure what you mean by

The first problem is that every time I edit text and close the Magix 3D white editing window, it locks up VPX and I have to close VPX from Task Manager.

You should not have to do that. Just click on another clip on your timeline. Do not touch the text box again.

I can not reproduce your problem. Text resizes and exports fine using the the text size slider within the 3D text box for that. If you then want to move the position of the text use the size position tool.

I do not think you can use the static text editor to edit text in an animated 3D text but I may be wrong. The images above were exported to 1280 x 720p.

What generation of i5 processor are you using?

Hi

. . . . it locks up VPX and I have to close VPX from Task Manager . . . .

What is you computer specification - see this topic for details required - please quote processor and graphics card full names eg

64 bit 3.3GHz i5

is insufficient information as there are 11 generations of i5 each of which has many variants.

. . . . trying to fit the text string into a 1280 high x 720 wide phone-video format and the displayed text is much too big, basically filling the entire width of the source  . . . .

This is normal, the text box automatically fits to the full width of the project - the Size & Position effect is then used to resize the text and position it, however there is an issue - the animation appears to fail either on loading into or on resizing in a portrait format - there is no issue resizing in a standard Landscape format.

. . . . when I drop the title into my video the text is the same size as the default "Fit to Width" font size. The font size changes aren't carried over, and "Fit to Width" likewise seems to ignore my actual 720-pixel width. . . . .

This also appears to be an issue with portrait format - landscape works fine.

This looks like a bug - please report it through the Support link above - follow this guide to raise a ticket with Support.

Hi John.

I missed it was portrait mode.😞 Sorry.

Is this a bug or an oversight? I still feel Magix is still not into the needs of people using their phones as a main communications media yet.

Thanks for your input and assistance. I submitted a support ticket today.

I downloaded the trial standalone full version of 3D Maker 7 to see if the problem might be with the embedded version included with VPX. After saving my file and importing it into my project, I still had the same problem with not being able to alter the point size of the font no matter how it was changed in 3D Maker.

I also tried a straightforward workaround by exporting a properly-sized GIF and dropping that into my project. Interestingly, instead of maintaining its original pixel dimensions, on import it was blown up basically full window width -- and, of course, very jaggy. I couldn't find a way to downsize it in VPX although there may be one.

The fact that point-size changes are applied and displayed properly in both the embedded and full stand-alone versions of 3D Maker, but not displayed properly in VPX -- as well as the similar issue with an imported GIF -- does indicate to me the issue is likely internal to VPX rather than in 3D Maker or the internal handshaking between VPX and its embedded 3D Maker.

Hi

. . . .  it was blown up basically full window width . . . .

This suggests the image size does not match the project settings, ie the GIF image exported is of lower resolution.

What resolution and aspect ratio are you wanting to export as?

Is the majority of the images and/or video portrait or landscape?

What project setting are you starting with?
