Thank you John, but how does that help?

I now have old projects that won't load due to the 'missing' files. Asking me to point the program to the location of the missing files and then refusing the location. I can't use any 3D title files that came with MEP in new projects.

I think I may have to try to purge all of my MEP and contents and start again but have no idea how to clean up any residue files. Not even looking forward to the prospect of re-registering everything all over again.

Hi Ray,

I should have mentioned that I posted this to show you that the 3D Maker files are not part of any trial and what happens if you have the full 3D Maker or VPX.

I don't know if you have a bug or what. It would be good to know if anyone else has this problem with the same version. Maybe a separate thread would be good.

MEP freezing for a while after loading a project is something new and I have it with VPX as well. It seems to be a problem with loading the Store or purchased items or something.

Did you check the location of the 3D titles themselves to see if they are all there?

For the 3D Maker problem, once you've exhausted all other avenues, you might want to download and install 3D Maker trial version and then see what happens in MEP with the 3D titles. It has been reported in the past that it keeps on working after the trial period, but only in MEP, not as a standalone.

BTW, I have the full 3D Maker even though I didn't need it. Got it for 1$ with a HumbleBundle.

Hi John.

I've reinstalled the program and still getting the same faults. The 3D icons for each effect show but can not be loaded. Re-installing MEP now shows this message when trying to install.

Pressing OK allows the install to continue but something is obviously wrong.

Still this message when trying to open a 3D title in an old project.

Other parts of MEP are not showing fully loaded yet.

Hi Ray,

Did you update to the latest patch after reinstalling?

Did you reinstall the additional content?

Try running MEP as Admin once to see if that helps. Try opening a 3D title.

Magix changed the location of the data from:

C:\ProgramData\MAGIX

to:

C:\Users\Public\Documents\MAGIX\Common\Videocontent

Did you follow the link shown in your 3D title image to see if everything exists in that location?

Is everything that is supposed to be under Default there? Check under the old location.

Hi Ray

The first message is telling you that you do not have enough privileges to complete the install.

I suspect a recent Windows update has changed some user security settings - I went to update Photostory this morning and had to run it as Administrator. Try running the program as Administrator when updating and installing the extra content.

Hi Guys.

It took a while to reload it all (again) and check through.

John CB.

Yes latest patch.

Yes and this time a successful install of Vasco Da Gama. Never had it install and accept activation before and not likely to ever use it but....

I have tried running as administrator but makes no difference. Still the same result.

Locations? That has me confused. I have files in both locations.

The one you say MEP should be using is showing completely differently to the old one and does not appear to have '3d_maker_embeded' in it.

Are you sure both locations are not used? They look completely different to me.

On the plus side, and a big plus is, I no longer need to register the program every time I open it. That problem has gone.

I may put up with not having 3D titles just for that.

I have followed the link which was .

c: \ Program Files \ MAGIX \ Movie Edit Premium \ 2020 \ (and then a four digit number for each title which is not at that location) In fact there are no four number digit files anywhere.

@johnebaker

Hi John.

This is what I suspected as well John and had also previously tried opening MEP with administrator privileges but that did not work then or now.

Earlier you showed me an image with this.

That I also found that file, but that was not what I was showing you of what I had found. To find that you need to look in:

C: \ Program Files \ MAGIX \ Movie Edit Premium \ 2020 \ 3d_maker_embeded \ updates \ ENG; and see if you see this file please.

That was what made me think it was a trial period.

Is that file on that folder on your system?

Ray.

Hi Ray

. . . . Earlier you showed me an image with this. . . . .

The image above is the 3DMaker Help file not the one I posted ie this

In the location you referred to ie

. . . . You need to look in c: \ Program Files \ MAGIX \ Movie Edit Premium \ 2020 \ 3d_maker_embeded \ updates \ ENG and see if you see this file please. . . .

I have the real file as you can see below and it is a Xara Web Designer project file

In your second image the 'file' is a shortcut to the real file

Right click the shortcut and select Properties and in the Target box you should see where the real file is located - you can open it with Xara Web Designer or Xara Photo and Graphics Designer if you have it installed.

After re-installing MEP I also had to go back into Windows to reset the graphics permissions for the Intel chip. That setting wasn't saved although just about everything within MEP was.

OK John.

Thank you for checking.

I am at a loss then as to why my 3D titles won't open.

As you say, a permission somewhere got screwed up but no idea where to begin. It may of course go again with another Windows update or maybe a MEP one. I won't lose sleep over it and can work without it. It could also be my aging NVIDIA perhaps but the messages don't make sense.

Either way it's going to have to wait a bit as I've other things to get on with after a pleasant but hard day filming.

Thank you anyway John, unless you get any further thoughts.

Effects and titles obtained from the Store continue to load and work and then disappear again only to reappear in the Store front and when clicked show a 'Download' icon when they disappear from my effects or title lists. This is happening at random over and over. I have had MEP open for over sixteen hours at a time with a 220 mbps internet connection.

Still no luck with any 3D titles loading or working either.

OK. The cure for the store section being empty on startup of the program seems linked to MEP's Update Notifier.

If I have that pinned to the start bar and allowed to load on startup, I don't suffer with missing content from the store.

The 3D title problem remains.

Can someone please check that my 3D title files are residing in the correct location and that the folders are the correct size please? They don't appear to be that large for the amount of content.

I too have this problem with effects and titles downloaded from the store. It usually gets sorted by exiting MEP and restarting it. However, occasionally this is not an option because sometimes when I exit (via file/exit as instructed) there is a Videodeluxe.exe still using the CPU according to Task manager which can take up to 5 minutes to close.

After that, MEP loads OK with the store items EXCEPT for this morning. MEP has now been reloaded 4 times and STILL there are no store items. What makes it worse is that the program now seems to hang for a couple of minutes before I can even load a project to work on.

No amount of free store items and wonderful effects are of any use if the basic program doesn't work. I've used freeware editing programs that work efficiently without problems so why can't a paid for editing program.

Edit - the store items have just loaded after almost 9 minutes.

New problem but similar in nature to the fault that David Rambaldi Suffered.

First of all, I decided to open my Dickens Festival project again and something odd happened upon opening to the Timeline view.

Then this happened.

I hadn't done anything at this point but pressed 'No'.

The project then loaded but with this message.

So I checked.

The project by the way is residing on Disk D. So I also checked memory usage of GPU.

During all this time the program refused to play the video at all. So checked what was also running on the PC.

Nothing unusual loaded and has always been running like this.

So I checked my settings for the audio buffers and they are the same settings as for previous projects as well as this one.

So I closed the program. Waited a minute or two then re-opened MEP and re-loaded the same project.

It played with no problems or warning messages even though I got the 'Do I want to create proxy files message again?' and I again I pressed 'No'.

This was the memory in use while playing the project.

This was the just over ten minute 4K project I was working on before Christmas. It was working last time I closed it. Please note the amount of free space on both my C: drive and project D: drive. Also that the D: drive is hardly moving and that the memory amount is hardly touched upon.

As I say it's working now but it seems very similar to the problem David Rambaldi was having.

To me though it doesn't seem to have anything to do with the wave files themselves but some form of memory management problem.

Ray.

Hi Ray

. . . . Nothing unusual loaded and has always been running like this . . . .

The image below this statement shows what will start up with Windows, it does not show what is actually running - this is shown on the Processes tab and you will find a lot more running than what is in the Start up tab. Windows has multiple points/locations where program starts are initiated.

I have been working with MEP today with none of these issues - apart from the usual 3 sec delay opening the Transitions pane when clicking on a clips transition icon.

Hi John.

My current project resides on Drive E including the projects original source files. The Dickens project I tried to open is on drive D including the projects original source files: Both have around 450 gig of free space on them.

Would that make a difference to how they loaded? I do desperately need to do my yearly triple backup so as to free up space on my working drives as normally use just one drive to work on projects Both D: and E: need to be cleared of data and formatted. G: and F: are just backup drives that are currently connected.

Without MEP running

With MEP running

Either way, nowhere near running out of memory.

I have this new update. Is there a way to manipulate the length of a Dynamic Title? The stretch icon pops up but doesn't work. Normal Titles can be shortened or lengthened. Are Dynamic Titles set in time length without being changeable?

You can use the re-speed function.

Thanks CA, it does make it longer, but also slows down the speed of effect. I liked the orig speed - just wanted to keep the title up longer before fading out once it finished movement...

You could cut the middle section that is static and duplicate that section as many times as you need to obtain the length you want the graphic stationary. That could be a lot of work, but do-able.

Last changed by CubeAce on 1/1/2020, 6:10 PM, changed a total of 1 times.

I just upgraded to the latest version of MEP 19.0.2.49(UPD3) from MEP 2019 and I have only problems with it.

FIRST - all movies in which I used greenscreen and chroma key effect after loading into the new version they look as if they did not generally include this effect. Threshold and Fade Range do not work. In general, the image looks like it has no green component from the RGB palette, but does not cut the green area as in MEP2019. For example I attached file before user chroma key, after chroma key in MEP2019 and after chroma key in MEP2020.

The effect is that all movies that I want to edit have to be processed again and yet the effect is not always satisfactory. For now I use the chroma key from Davinci Resolve, but I didn't buy MEP to use something else for one task.

The second thing, video playback that was supposed to be smoother, for me is stop-motion and generally worse than in MEP 2019. In general, the whole program seems to be much worse and less smooth than the previous version.

The program can hang for tens of seconds and revive after that time. Often, when the program is turned off, it remains in processes, so that subsequent MEP firing causes a message about possible reduced application performance.

I uninstalled the whole, installed on a clean system - still the same problems. I installed on another computer - still the same.

I'd love to go back to the previous version, but unfortunately I didn't save the installation program.
