Movie Edit Pro :.: 19.0.2.49

frankberger85 wrote on 12/9/2019, 4:55 AM

Hello dear MEP User,

our developers have provided a new update for you:

Here are some new features you can expect:

  • modern color picker in text editor
  • Effect masks are now available as layer masks under Templates
  • improved performance of the OFX interface
  • In-App-Store: Purchase of single items

After installing the patch, the following problem may occur:

Problems starting/stopping Movie Edit Pro - Displaying templates and audio:

This is caused by a restructuring of the internal database in which the templates, audio content and store items are held. The restructuring was necessary to ensure better performance during project work.

The database is rebuilt the first time the program is launched after patch installation. This may take some time. On our test systems, the process was completed in less than 5 minutes. When Movie Edit Pro is closed, the new database is finally written and kept for the next sessions. This may take some time the first time. If this process is interrupted (e.g. by "shooting" the task in the Control Panel), the writing process cannot be completed correctly and the game starts over again the next time Movie Edit Pro is started, or in the worst case the database may be in an undefined state.

Then only the following procedure will help:

  • After program start help -> delete local store contents
  • Restart the program, it may take a while until the contents are displayed again. (Please wait)
  • After restarting the program, some articles may be displayed incorrectly. In this case the program must be restarted manually (close and restart manually).
  • IMPORTANT: the program must close itself, it must not be closed via the task manager. After restarting the program everything should be displayed correctly and the contents should be loaded faster.

Best regards and have fun with your projects.
Your Frank

PS: In general, you should avoid "shooting down" Movie Edit Pro via the task manager, since not only the database for the media pool is written, but also other important configuration files. This can lead to undefined program states, up to the loss of finished work. If the program is still visible in the task manager after exiting, it will normally still work.

Killing the Movie Edit Pro process via the task manager should only be used in extreme emergencies.

Thank you for the update. I don't appear to have suffered any of the problems some VPX users were reporting although I now appear to have a store item I never purchased. I think I have most of what is in the new store item anyway but definitely didn't get this package.

Hi

Under Templates, Themepacks there is one pack, 'Ultimate video content' package which contains a selection of various existing transitions from the Transitions section - is this correct?

I would have expected a theme pack to contain, for example, a set of intro/outro clips, background images and audio clips, collages etc, that relate to each other to give a project a specific style and feel, by analogy something like the Sound Track Maker themes/styles of audio.

Added: setting the Preview monitor to any Stereo 3D setting results in a low contrast display.

Under Templates, Themepacks there is one pack, 'Ultimate video content' package

Assuming I've not misunderstood the location you're viewing, I have no such entry as Templates>Themepacks. Below is my complete list:

Ssshhh! I have it too with VPX.

Actually, digging a bit deeper, you probably don't have the whole thing. Here is what I have:

However, if I go under the Store and click on Ultimate Video Content Package, here is part of what I see:

We can now purchase the effects individually. I had purchased some of them under other packs and you can see these either with no arrow and no price, or with the download arrow. This gives a good indication as to whether or not it's worth getting the whole package, or just some the ones that are missing, if desired.

Thus, I suspect that if one has anything that comes under the Ultimate Video Content Package, the title will show up under Themepacks, but contain only the items purchased.

Greetings,

It appears that the developers have broken the "straighten horizon" feature in effects/rotation.

The attached video shows the problem. Create a new 16;9 project and add a 4:3 picture (it doesn't have to be 4:3 just NOT 16:9) and try to "straighten" the picture by moving the slider left or right. All I can get is the cropping feature of straighten horizon.

Go to picture image properties and change the aspect to 16:9. All works well. Change it back to the original ratio and it doesn't work.

My system uses an Nvidia 750Ti card. I know that a couple of years ago we had a similar problem with certain releases of Nvidia drivers. Can someone check this out on their non Nvidia system to see if it's a universal problem or a specific system problem please?

I've just tested this on my AMD Radeon system and everything seems to work "as it should", i.e "Rotation" functions normally with both 16:9 and 4:3 images in a 16:9 project, both "Full HD" and "SD". (I even tried a 3:2 ratio; again, all as expected.)

So, perhaps this is "NVidia only"??

Hi all

I have tested on my PC and it works OK if I use the Intel iGPU or the NVidia card.

The Nvidia card is set as the preferred GPU in the Windows Graphics option, however which GPU is used appears to depend on the Video mode setting within MEP ie:-

  • iGPU - the usage jumps to 30 - 40 %, the NVidia peaking to < 20%, CPU <30%

  • NVidia - the usage jumps to 30 - 40 %, the iGPU peaking to < 5%, CPU < 30%.

  • Microsoft Basic Render driver - neither GPU went above 5% usage and the CPU - 68%.

Note: the changes I was making to the setting were pretty violent and to the limits of the slider.

Greetings and thanks for the replies.

From this small sample we have 2 NVidias that show the problem, 1 NVidia that doesn't and 2 others that don't.

Apart from this not making much sense to me it seems to show that something else in the system is also involved.

I have found that changing the video display mode from standard mode to compatibilty or alternative mode 2 allows the straighten horizon slider to work properly albeit very very slowly and jumpy.

So why does one NVidia work but not another. Hmmm. This need more playing with. I updated the drivers first thing this morning (mistake?). I may try some older drivers - I can go back 6 months or so.

Greetings again,

I've tried a couple of sets of drivers that I know worked with MEP 19.0.1.31 (? the version before this one anyway) and the problem still exists. It seems obvious that Nvidia GeForce drivers do not seem to like whatever the development team have done to MEP - except of course for Mr Baker's NVidia which is somewhat curious.

Still, the digging around continues.

AndyW

By the way, has anybody else noticed that this version of MEP loads OK but seems to hang for a further 20secs or so before a project can be loaded? Or is that just me - again.

FWIW, Nvidia made a change to the way that NVENC works in drivers after 411.x. For example, in v 15 of a competitor's program, the option for Hardware Encoding is grayed out if one has newer Nvidia drivers. The competitor issued a patch for v 17 to address this.

Started with MEP 11, then 17, then MX, then MEP 2013, 2015, then 2016. Changed to the fast competitor after that which worked fine with my non-Intel hardware. Then bought a used Dell with an Intel GPU, just to play with MEP again. Installed MEP 2020 Plus in March 2020, even tho I don't like losing patches if I have to reinstall after a year.

Testing on a Dell Vostro, i3-8100, UHD 630, 16 GB 2400 DDR4 (CL15), Win10 Home, heavily NTLite'd. Now with GTX-1650 Super OC'd. Added a WD Blue M.2 for OS (PCIe 3), Apps, Temps and Video-In. 2 Monitors. A WD Blue SSD for outputs. (SATA III.)

Hi

. . . . a couple of sets of drivers . . . and . . . .Nvidia made a change to the way that NVENC works in drivers after 411.x. . . .

Are you referring to the new Studio drivers that NVidia brought out specifically for use with video editors?

These are the drivers I am using, however if you have an older NVidia graphics card the Studio drivers will not work with it.

Aah, now I understand. I've got a humble GeForce 750ti. The studio drivers don't support it.

I would change the card but it's unfortunate that even the latest Nvidia card can't be used in MEP for hardware encoding and I don't want to change my motherboard to use the Intel chip.

I'll wait and see.

@johnebaker No, I have downloaded Game Ready post 411.x drivers for my old GTX-960. For example, they're up to 441.x now.

@me_again could try a clean install of 411.70 to see if that fixes his instant problem with Magix. If it does, then he needs to report back so that we know that Magix needs to catch up.

Unfortunately 411.70 is not longer in Nvidia's archive. So one would have to download it from an Nvidia friendly site, like 3dguru.

I can't open any 3D title effects. Program freezes for about a minute and says it can't find the files.

The Dialog box is marked Magix 3D Maker and say's Failed to open'C:\Program\files\MAGIX\Movie Edit Pro Premium\2020\5268

Cannot get that box to show up on a screen grab.

I did get a Windows update yesterday and MEP crashed shortly after without me trying those particular effects but rebooted itself with a Windows automated comparability box I've not seen before asking me to run it. There was no option not to run it. So I ran it and it said 'Did this solve your problem?'. I pressed yes simply because I wanted to get rid of the dialogue box. MEP seemed to run OK until I tried the 3D title effects.

The problem is I hadn't tried any of those effects since the MAGIX update so don't know it the problem was there before the Windows update or not.

[Edit]

Following the trail from the dialogue box back to the folder I found this 'End of trial period ' update patch.

So presumably that has gone from my version of MEP. I upgraded my product in may this year to the current version but before the latest release.

You are not showing file extensions in File Explorer so you cannot see what that file actually is, however it is not a patch it is this:

Did you at one time install and test Xara 3D Maker standalone version?

Do you have the file and folders shown below?

Thank you for answering John.

I'm not getting that at all John. To date I've not bought anything through the Magix shop site beyond from the vouchers supplied for a few transitions and codecs.

I have only ever downloaded the current version of MEP that I renewed for the first time in May this year. That did not include the new additional packs currently on offer.

Yes I have those folders.

I'm assuming that now, any old projects where I used the 3D title effects, now will not be able to be played back with those 3D animations playing.

While all the 3D title animations are displayed in MEP. None will open. Program freezes from 20 seconds to a minute and the warning box I mentioned activates.

This is annoying as I wasn't aware at the time the 3D titles supplied were part of a trail set of effects.

@CubeAce

Hi

What is your current version of MEP according to your signature you are on 19.0.1.18 - the latest is 19.0.2.49?

Did you keep the extras downloads for 2020 when you downloaded them after upgrading to MEP 2020, if so then try running the Video_deluxe_2020_Premium_Titles_INT_. . . . . . installer again - it will want to remove the previous installed title before replacing them.

. . . . I wasn't aware at the time the 3D titles supplied were part of a trail set of effects. . . . .

They aren't part of a trial, they are installed with MEP as a fully working, embedded version, of the standalone program with some restricted editing capabilities

Hi John.

Busy day today. In fact busy weekend.

I've updated my profile. It is 19.0.2.49.

I think I got that correct.

Ignore the additional ticks on the screenshot. I only elected title effects and downloaded. It showed as repairing but still won't work. Same dialogue box after trying and still freezing the program.

Notice the install dates.

Even the screen grab doesn't look right.

I will be out now for several hours.
