hi all,

after uninstalling everything and every trace of MEP - using the

Microsoft Fix I Tool" t from the following link:
https://support.microsoft.com/en-gb/help/17588/fix-problems-that-block-programs-from-being-installed-or-removed

...i've now reinstalled it again 18.0.1.209. and all is working (it appears) as it should, save for one thing:

the pesky update reminder:

The brand new 2020 version available now

Update later Update Now

despite clearly ticking the "Don't show this again" box, the popup returns with every single reboot.

is there anyway to disable this completely?

Hi

. . . . is there anyway to disable this completely? . . . .

Definitely not recommended to disable the Updater - I tested this and it caused several issues the biggest was the program randomly hanging on start up.

If the setting is not being saved then something is blocking the program. Does MEP save settings you have changed while working, eg screen layout, when you close it?

Did you uninstall the Update Notifier which is a different 'module' for accessing the Cloud, transferring files from mobiles via Camera MX and receiving news.

Hi John

yes I disabled the notifier - for the cloud etc.

however, the nag popup is annoying. there should be a way to disable it - if I don;t ever want to update (due to my hardware limits) then why should it be allowed to continue nagging. surely someone, somewhere has found a way to turn this nag off?

Hi John

it's definitely saving screen settings/size etc, so that shouldn't be an issue.

if i don't ever want to update, what is the correct response to the update popup to prevent it recurring at program load?

► tick "Don't show this again" ►select Update later

or

► tick "Don't show this again" ►select Update later ► close popup with "x" top right corner

or

► tick "Don't show this again"close popup with "x" top right corner

cheers

Martin

Hi Martin

I would expect option 3 to be the one to use, the other 2 suggest that you do want to update later.

Hi

That is what I suspected you were going to say. I would suggest you raise a ticket with Magix through the Support link at the top of the page, see these guidelines on how to navigate through the support system.

already done, but they can take a while to respond...and then longer gaps between follow-ups.

was kind of hoping someone here would know

well, after a while of "no update" nags, it's back - continually for the last two weeks:

this is beginning to become a pain. Every time I load up MEP I get the same popup ad suggesting I upgrade to  MEP 2021
but also
a nag that MY Installed Version = 19.0.1.18 Popup tells me to update to 20.0.1.80
I have ticked "Don't Show This Again" - but it always does. Every. Single. Time.

I do not want any updated version of the app, 19.0.1.18 is the last stable version I can use. Can anyone help me to disable this nag popup permanently. it's annoying as it locks up the app and prevents anything being done. i shouldn't have to click "Don't Show This Again" every time I want to use the app.

Please note: this is not anything to do with Magix News - as the Settings part of the program I have ticked the Hide News option.

I have contacted Magix, but I'm not holding my breath.
