I have the HEIF and three HEVC extensions installed and Magix MMS2025 wouldn't open the HEIF file until I changed the file type to HEIC.

Thanks for the download link. My antivirus insisted on scanning the download first but came up clean.

I am not against paying for a codec. I'm against being made to have any form of Microsoft account.

I didn't even worry about paying for a copy of Windows on a disc when that option was there and not full of the """" on the current OS.

The good new it worked in Vegas Pro21 on both the new iPhone and Gid's smaller file with the extension changed. All files loaded and did not crash the program but the largest file just would not display.

None of the files would display in either MMS2024 or VPX14 but only the largest file from Gid caused those two programs to crash.

On a UHD 3840x2160 set the preview to (Full), Full = 3840x2160 preview.

Or try adding it to an 8k project, preview can then be set to half (Half = 3840x2160 preview). but set it to Quarter & the screen goes black again,

I don't think VP likes scaling such a bit image below UHD to fit in the preview window.

Still no go with the large file. The Vegas menu system is vast and I'm still not overly confident with setting it up away from the default settings. Not sure if it is a settings problem or a hardware one.

Not as much miffed as disappointed at my ability to control what is and what is not on my pc 😉😅

@CubeAce Top of the preview screen it says Good (Auto) on your pic, The sizes are shown at the bottom. This works in a similar way to the lightening symbol in MMS.

Are you telling me you've never had a problem opening a file in one program so tried another program to see if that will open it & therefore work out why..?

Hi. Good morning. Sorry I've been silent through much of the last two pages. So, I had sent a ticket to MAGIX and they responded by saying (pretty much what others have already said): that the problem is the new apple files. There is nothing they (Magix) can do. They suggested I try one of their other programs on a 30 day free trial and see if those work. My other option was to convert the files to jpg.

Here's what I did:

I looked at all the other software options (from MAGIX) and decided all of that effort (without any guarantee), would not be in my best interest. I am not that computer savvy.

In lieu of downloading a HEIC/HEIF to JPG converter, I used the Microsoft "Paint" program, which I already had. It was tedious, but I was able to highlight all the files in File Explorer, open them with Paint, then save each one of them as a JPG or PNG.

That worked, but there were probably more than 300 files that needed converting....so on my next project, I don't want to have to do that again. LOL

I would happily purchase an upgrade, but I would like to be pretty sure it works. I am also looking into other programs (not MAGIX), but I think, for now they are all in the same situation with the new iPhone files being what they are.

@Iris-Willis Hi, would you share one of your photos pls? We can test it & see what difference it is to the ones we already have & maybe answer if it will work in an upgrade.

1. Open Google, top right is a sq of dots - Open Google Drive.
2. Drag that photo onto the Google Drive window, let it upload.
3. Right click on the file on screen - Share.
4. A window will pop up, General Access - choose anyone with the link - Copy link.
5. Then on here in a new comment at the top there's a chain button, paste the link on there
6. Click Comment

PS, turn off High Efficiency on your phone & tick Most Compatible. your phone will then create .jpgs & you won't have this problem in the future. I think @johnebaker already mentioned this 👍
